Simulation and Experimental Analysis of Tool Wear and Surface Roughness in Laser Assisted Machining of Titanium Alloy

A three-dimensional cutting simulation prediction model based on DEFORM-3D finite element software was developed and experimentally validated, with a maximum error of 21.1% between the experimental results. The effects difference in mechanism conventional machining (CM) laser-assisted (LAM) TC6 titanium alloy tool wear surface roughness were investigated terms force temperature. depth laser-heated layer mainly responsible for two methods. When heating smaller than depth, LAM larger that CM. cut higher Range analysis revealed speed had largest effect rake face. Based linear regression analysis, LAM. average equation results 4.30%.
